Marine Corps Base Miramar

 
  San Diego, California, is home to Miramar Marine Corps Base and Airfield. Miramar Marine Corps Base holds its annual Miramar Air Show in mid-October, attracting more than 500,000 spectators each year. And no wonder: the show features the U.S. Navy's famous Blue Angels demonstration team. On Independence Day, the Marine Corps performs demonstrations on the Coronado Peninsula with gunfire, explosions and parachute landings from helicopters and airplanes. The Marine Corps base has an open-air museum with about two dozen aircraft, ranging from World War II propeller planes to modern helicopters and jets like the F-18. Twice a week, the base offers tours.
