Statue of Liberty - tour

  A symbol of American democracy and one of the main places of pilgrimage for tourists. It is located on an island at the entrance to New York Bay. At the base of the statue is embossed the saying "Give me your tired, your poor and breathe free" - these are the words America uses to welcome new arrivals to the country. Visitors walk 354 steps to the crown of the Statue of Liberty, where the observation deck is located or 192 steps to the top of the pedestal, inside which is a museum of the history of the Statue of Liberty. From the history: The Statue of Liberty was designed by the French sculptor Bartholdi and more than a century ago the people of France presented the statue to the American people as a gift of friendship during the American Revolution. An integral part of the Statue of Liberty cruise is a visit to Ellis Island. Between 1892 and 1954, more than 12 million immigrants entered the United States through the gates of the island. The island is home to the Museum of Immigration, where you can watch a film about the history of the island. The museum exhibit tells the history of immigration to the United States, with documents, photographs, and other materials.
