Smithsonian Institution - tour

  The Smithsonian Institution is the largest complex in the world, including 14 museums with about 100 million exhibits. These include the National Museum of History, the National Gallery of Art, the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Natural History, the Sculpture Garden, the National Air and Space Museum, and many other galleries. The first museum building of the large complex, known as the Castle, was built in the Norman style and designed by James Renwick, architect of the famous St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. The Castle building was completed in 1855 and originally housed all art collections and research laboratories. Today, the Smithsonian Institution is not only a complex of museums, but also an extensive research center and an educational institution. Other important repositories of national relics include the National Museum of American History and the U.S. State Archives, home to the original Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.
