The White House has been the official residence of the President of the United States since 1800. Its official address is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. The building is a relatively small two-story mansion with a portico with columns in the center, from which two wings depart. The name of the building corresponds to the color of the exterior walls. But the interior rooms are decorated with a variety of colors and even have appropriate names: in the oval Blue Hall - official receptions, and in the Green - informal meetings. The press usually covers scandals related to the occupants of the White House. Its walls, however, tell many a sublime romantic tale. On June 3, 1886, for instance, the first presidential wedding was celebrated here: President Stephen Grover Cleveland (1837-1908) married 24-year-old Frances Folsom, daughter of his late friend and legal partner. The bride was 25 years younger than the groom.
